Herpes Effects on Pregnancy

Genital herpes is a type of infection which is transmitted by sex; it has some symptoms such as:
• Inflammation in the genital area that causes pain.
• Urination with pain.
• Vaginal flow.
• Itching.
• Tender lumps in the groin.
Some people have symptoms, similar to that come with flu, during the first onset, such as headache, fever, and pains in the body, the first onset also called "primary herpes".
In the majority of people, there will be Inflammations and symptoms at different times when they are infected by herpes, but, there are some cases where there are few or no symptoms, for example, some women who have herpes only on the cervix may have few or no Inflammations.
Unfortunately, herpes does not have a cure, therefore, it is very dangerous during pregnancy, if the mother is infected by herpes at the time of delivery or near that time, it will affect the baby and he or she will be infected with it, newborns who are infected with herpes are vulnerable to blindness, brain damage, or even death.
Do not hesitate to tell your doctor if you are pregnant or considering pregnancy and having the herpes symptoms, he or she may permit some antiviral medicine to you which may minimize the risk of having herpes outbreak at the time of delivering the baby or near that time, but, he may deliver the baby by cesarean section if you already have a genital herpes outbreak at delivery time, since cesarean section minimize the risk of giving herpes from the mother to the baby. If the mother had genital herpes outbreak for the first time a short time before delivery or at delivery time, there will be a higher risk of passing the infection to the baby.
Note that you should be careful before having sex or doing any activity that may cause the infection with herpes, you should avoid getting herpes during pregnancy, keep your eyes open, do not neglect using condoms during sexual intercourse at all times when you know that your partner has herpes even if you do not have it. Although, some people are not experiencing herpes outbreak in the time of the sexual intercourse, they can pass the infection to a free people, so, if you notice visible inflammations on your partner, you should not have sex completely with him until the full heal of these inflammations.
